About the role
Here in the Southern region, we are dedicated to helping you deepen your knowledge and understanding of midwifery. We provide you with a nurturing platform designed to empower you to truly thrive in a safe and supportive environment. We wholeheartedly recognise and appreciate the unique diversity you bring to our community.We offer a comprehensive 12-month programme, 32 hours (0.8FTE) per week with the flexibility of 0.6 FTE being considered. Successful applicants will begin their role anytime from December 2024 onwards.
As a new graduate in your Midwifery First Year of Practice, you will gain experience across a range of options including (but not exhaustive of) the following :
Secondary and tertiary hospital environments - rotations through the antenatal, labour and birthing suite, and postnatal wards
Primary maternity unit and hubs located in urban, semi- urban, rural and remote settings
Experience working in a caseload team alongside our maternity settings
Be part of an integrated system where primary, secondary and tertiary services network and provide a safe childbearing journey

About you
Our ideal candidate will have :
graduated with a Bachelor of Midwifery in 2024 or 2025
a passion and motivation for growth and knowledge to meet the needs of our whānau
understand the value of communication skills to build a strong partnership with women / pregnant people and their whānau
a commitment to work within a multi-disciplinary and multi-ethnic environment, embracing each other's diversity and strength
integrity, strong values and positive attitude.As a new graduate midwife, we know you are the future of our maternity care for whānau. Salary range
This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 February 2024 - 30 April 2025), Registered (Core) Midwives Salary Scale, Step 2 ($82,642) per annum, pro-rata.
