The National Aquarium of New Zealand is looking for a motivated and people-focused Visitor Services Supervisor to join our team on a one-year fixed-term basis.

Overseeing reception, admissions, retail, café, and event operations, you'll play a key role in ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional visit — from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.You'll be a hands-on leader who thrives in a busy, visitor-facing environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a much-loved community attraction while developing your leadership experience in a dynamic, customer-focused setting.Te Aheinga - The OpportunityLead and support a talented Visitor Services team across reception, admissions, retail, café, and events.Ensure consistently high standards of customer service, presentation, and safety.Manage retail operations including stock control, merchandising, and sales performance.Supervise events and venue hire to deliver seamless guest experiences.Drive continuous improvement in processes, procedures, and visitor engagement.Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.Contribute to operational planning and help achieve revenue and visitation goals.He korero mohou - About YouExperience in front-of-house operations, ideally in tourism, hospitality, or visitor attractions.At least one year of supervisory or team leadership experience.A strong customer service ethos and the ability to lead by example.Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.The ability to stay calm and solution-focused in a dynamic environment.A collaborative mindset, fostering teamwork and accountability.Confidence in managing systems and reporting (Microsoft Office proficiency essential).

You will be based at the National Aquarium of New Zealand on Napier's iconic Marine Parade.The annual salary package for this role for 35 hours per week is between $64,100-$75,400 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.Applications for this role close on 5 November
