Job Summary
For a Molecular Biology Research Technician, you will :
Carry out projects to support major research objectives by collecting and analyzing data
Maintain accurate laboratory records
Organize and maintain lab space for efficient research operations
Oversee laboratory and chemical inventory, coordinating with the PI to replenish supplies as needed
Perform general lab housekeeping, including autoclaving biohazardous waste as necessary
Within the UNL system, the position Molecular Biology Research Technician is categorized as Research Technician II.

Employment Details
Temporary employees may be appointed for up to two years.
Appointments over six months are eligible for benefits from the start, provided the position is at least half-time (.50
FTE).
Eligible temporary employees receive vacation and sick leave, along with health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or Life Science
Experience in molecular biology techniques
Ability to use computers for data analysis
Familiarity with reading and interpreting scientific literature
Preferred Qualifications
For a Research Technician, the preferred qualifications include :
One year of independent research experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to critically evaluate data and develop independent research ideas
Ideal Candidate Statement

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for the Research Technician role.
