About the Role
We have an opportunity for a talented Senior Façade Engineer to join the growing Christchurch team. To succeed in this role, you will have proven technical understanding of façade structures, secondary structures, and refurbishments of existing façade structures.

Key technical responsibilities will include :
- Responsible for the facade design, management, delivery and implementation of complex multi- disciplinary projects.
- Primary aim is on delivering projects of the highest quality, that are cost effective and delivered as the best solution to the client and the project.
- Review contractor submissions; shop drawings and calculations
- Undertake materials and products research, liaising with suppliers and contractors
- Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally at a high level working with developers and architects.
- Have a clear understanding of the key Standards and Codes to the relevant line of work. Proficient in NZ codes and on the path to be registered with the Auckland Council.
- Be responsible for the quality, accuracy and timely completion of their own work
- Review and take responsibility for deliverables produced by junior engineers & drafters
- Take a lead role in design team / site meetings
- Lead and manage the day to day correspondence with design team / contractor
- Work with other façade teams in BG&E.
- Report day to day to Facade Lead (Vince) but also work closely day to day with Christchurch Lead (Domenico)
- Provide assistance for engineering calculations & reviews alongside H1 thermal analysis as it grows within New Zealand.
Depending on the experience and ambition of the candidate, the role could include project management and business development functions, as well as providing opportunities to progress over time into a more senior role within the business.

Degree qualified in either Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or other transferable manufacturing / engineering disciplineProven experience in a façade design / engineering role be a Chartered Engineer or already working towards chartershipCompleted portfolio of good mixture of small, medium to large scale projects with breadth of experience across a range of façade typesGood working knowledge of national and international design codes, technical guidance along with local council compliance pathwaysExcellent knowledge of façade systems and construction techniques, procurement routes and risk assessment.Versatile skillset including knowledge of detail design, structural and building physics, testing, inspections and investigations and site experience.Excellent people skills and confident at influencing people (colleagues, clients, design team members and contractors)Ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines.Ability to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a teamStrong written and verbal communications skillsLife at BG&E
