Project Engineer (Civil)

Overview

As a Project Engineer (Civil) in our Capital Programme Delivery team, you’ll be the technical lead on a diverse range of infrastructure projects that help shape Auckland’s energy future. You’ll work closely with project managers and design consultants, guiding the delivery of horizontal and vertical civil and structural designs, and ensuring construction quality meets both design requirements and Vector’s high standards.

This is a hybrid role, with a mix of office-based design management and on-site inspections – giving you the chance to see your work come to life. Each project offers new challenges and learning opportunities, and you’ll be a key subject matter expert to the team. You’ll also have the opportunity to broaden your expertise, working at the intersection of civil and electrical engineering, and benefit from Vector’s strong commitment to professional growth and knowledge sharing.

Who are we looking for?

We envisage you’ll have :

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or similar), with 3-5 years’ experience in commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects
• Strong technical background in civil / structural engineering; exposure to electrical or other disciplines is a bonus
• Proven ability to manage design reviews, site inspections, and quality assurance processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
• Sound knowledge of international codes and NZ engineering standards, safety in design, and relevant codes and practices.
