Overview

Our high-performing Transport team in Auckland is looking for an experienced Principal Pavement Engineer. This exciting opportunity arises from a strong pipeline of new project wins and ongoing programs such as Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Riverlink) and Eastern Busway Alliance (EBA).

We’re looking for a pavement design specialist with technical depth, leadership capability, and a drive to support both design delivery and construction-phase services (MSQA / CPS) across a variety of transport infrastructure projects.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Lead and deliver pavement design packages for a range of small to large-scale multi-disciplinary projects across New Zealand and Australia, ensuring technical quality and practical constructability.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including technical design advice, MSQA oversight, and CPS inspections, with a focus on active projects such as Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Riverlink) and the Eastern Busway Alliance (EBA).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables while managing multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and supporting tender pursuits with pavement expertise.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, fostering trust through reliable delivery, open communication, and a deep understanding of project and stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with 10+ years’ experience in pavement design, and CPEng registered or working towards it (required).
  • Proficient in pavement modelling and delivery, with expertise in CIRCLY 7 (required) and AustPADS (preferred), and a strong command of NZTA and Austroads guidelines.
  • Skilled in MSQA and CPS inspections, with a solid foundation in quality assurance processes and construction-phase support.
  • Effective communicator and team collaborator, with strong time management, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
