Be at the forefront of climate action in New Zealand and the Pacific by joining Beca's national Strategic Advisory team, contributing to the provision of climate risk and adaptation consulting services throughout Beca.
You will be working with a passionate team providing climate change advice ranging from high-level corporate strategies through to practical tangible recommendations across a vast array of engineering and planning projects.
You will have the scope to utilise the vast and collective expertise developed over 100+ years within Beca across multiple disciplines, to turn actions into reality offering our clients' end-to-end solutions like few others can.

As an Associate – Climate Resilience, you will be working in a complex and fast-paced environment tackling climate change risk and adaptation.
You will be partnering with our clients, developing an understanding of their business, their goals and objectives to then provide robust and pragmatic solutions to shape a resilient future.
Our clients are spread across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific, and you will contribute to a range of sectors including local and central government, transport, water, energy and defence.
You will be leading projects and coaching juniors, as well as leading data collection and technical analysis, workshop facilitation and preparing reports.
You will have the opportunity to think analytically and holistically about broad outcomes, and to relate those areas to corporate, local and central government clients.
An ability to listen, question, and analyse to provide a considered view and solution will be important.
Skills in translating complex issues into simple language and excellent report writing will be required as well as managing delivery of complex projects working across disciplines.
You will be supported by our climate resilience specialists providing space to test your ideas and methodologies, and you will be empowered to lead and execute delivery of risk assessments (using desktop risk management frameworks or spatial tools) and adaptation plans (using a range of techniques including scenario planning and dynamic adaptive planning pathways).
You will also have a role in growing and maintaining a key client base and working on proposals and bids to grow the climate resilience offering within Beca.
In this role, you will be backed by Beca's subject-matter experts across a range of environmental, engineering, design, digital, sustainability, cultural and project delivery practice areas and have access to our wealth of industry knowledge and established client relationships.

This role could suit applicants with current consulting experience, or those from a government or policy agency or with wider industry climate change experience, who are looking to make a more diverse impact.
Experience providing consulting or management services in climate change resilience will be important, or a background in a corporate or government role providing climate change resilience related services.
Skills
Direct experience in leading climate adaptation or climate risk initiatives in New Zealand or the Pacific (or another relevant market)
Be credible, comfortable and effective in communicating your knowledge and expertise on climate change
Ability to engage with clients leading to successful pursuit, bidding and winning of project commissions, and experience in growing or developing a service offering
Ability to lead and coach junior staff and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, often remotely
Be adaptable and versatile to the wide range of work, opportunities and projects
An ability to handle multiple workstreams or projects at the same time
Self-directed, critically minded and a problem solver
Hold a relevant tertiary qualification across environmental science, engineering, planning, finance, economics, business, statistics, or other climate resilience related disciplines
