About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team.
You'll be at the heart of our multidisciplinary team, providing
evidence based care to our inpatients.
Your responsibilities will include :
Assessments : Performing psychiatric and risk assessments
Leadership : Overseeing the medical care of patients, including
prescribing and monitoring medications, and managing co-existing physical
health conditions.
Care : Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a
holistic approach to patient care.
Providing guidance and support to medical students, junior medical
staff and the wider team.
Planning : Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and community
services to ensure a smooth transition for patients leaving the unit.

Matairangi is a supportive, friendly and diverse environment.
It is a 24 hour, 30 bed acute inpatient Mental
Health assessment, treatment and Recovery unit at Wellington Regional Hospital.
You will be part of an experienced team that includes :
Our dedicated nursing staff provide round-the-clock care, support, and
monitoring.
Offering individual therapy, psychological assessments, and specialized
interventions.
Therapists : Helping patients regain daily living skills and to engage
in meaningful activities.
Workers : Providing support with housing, finances, and family
connections, ensuring a safe discharge.
Staff : Our wider team of peer support workers, mental health support
workers help guide and support recovery
Staff : Our admin team are essential to the smooth running of
the unit.
