Engineering Team Lead
with strong
people leadership, delivery and operations
experience as well as a
technical software engineering
background to join us at Xero!
In this role, you'll
manage a team of engineers
while directly contributing to successful outcomes.
Your purpose is to support excellent
engineering and delivery practices
that enable the rapid delivery of high-quality software.
You'll ensure your team's delivery pipeline is predictable and sustainable, addressing blockers as they arise.
A key part of your work is to understand and advocate for Xero's
Engineering Standards
, facilitating an approach that aligns with these standards and fosters excellent engineering.
You'll also work with peers to assist in developing
roadmaps
and plans that efficiently
deliver business outcomes
Beyond the technical responsibilities, you'll lead,

What you'll bring
You'll be a seasoned
Team Lead
, bringing substantial experience in guiding software delivery and engineering teams through Lean and / or Agile methodologies.
You'll have a
technical / software engineering
background
Your deep understanding of modern software delivery practices and the entire software development lifecycle is evident in your track record of successful team leadership.
You'll have a proven track record as coach and mentor, adept at leveraging your extensive software delivery, technical experience, and expertise to provide impactful guidance.
Enabling you to deliver the right knowledge at the right time and in the most effective way.
You'll possess high EQ and a true growth mindset; understanding that competency is not fixed but is enhanced through dedication and hard work.
You'll be self aware, self regulated, motivated and empathetic, with great interpersonal skills.
You'll have a strong understanding of the importance of Xero's Engineering standards and practices and are able to coach teams to adhere to them.
What you'll do
Engage, understand, collaborate, and communicate effectively with peers and teams across Xero to drive continuous improvement towards Xero's sustainably excellent engineering vision.
Lead your team of engineers to successfully identify, scope, manage, and complete high quality work which delivers measurable improvements to production systems in a timely manner.
Build cross-team relationships for win-win outcomes
Foster team growth through feedback, coaching, and opportunities for advancement
Analyse system health and make regular system health reviews
Support engineers during incidents and facilitate post incident reviews
Maintain current knowledge of technologies used in the development of Xero's software applications.
Build cross-team relationships and manage stakeholder expectations
