About the RoleOur registered nurses provide liaisonand consultation to and between Courts, Prisons, Justice Departments, MentalHealth, Police, Government and Community Agencies on mental health andaddiction matters and the management of associated problems within theidentified agency.The nurse utilises clinical andmedical-legal knowledge and skills to provide a quality rapid assessment ofthose persons identified as having or who may have a mental health andaddiction problem.About theTeam / Service LocationThe regional arm of Te Korowai-Whariki includes the CentralRegional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface betweenMental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the followingsettings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient.The Service offers assessment andrehabilitation services to defendant - s charged with criminal offences andoffenders who have psychiatric illness.
We are based in Porirua, Wellington.
About youWe are looking for someone who is able to demonstrateprofessional, legal and ethical responsibilities and cultural safety.Thisincludes being able to demonstrate knowledge and judgement and beingaccountable for their own actions and decisions, while promoting an environmentthat maximises patients - safety, independence, quality of life and health.The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate interpersonal andtherapeutic communication with clients, other nursing staff andinter-professional communication and documentation.
A big part of this role isclient assessment and managing client care, which is responsive to clients -needs, and which is supported by nursing knowledge and evidence-based research.You must have
