Medical Laboratory Scientist - Cellular Therapies and Tissue Banking , Auckland

NZBS collects, processes and distributes blood in New Zealand, and provides specialist cellular therapies and tissue banking services, including stem cell products and cardiovascular, skin and bone allografts. About the Role

Join our dedicated and expanding Cell and Tissue Laboratory (CTL) team in Auckland. You will :

• Receive, process, cryopreserve, store and dispense hematopoietic stem cells (bone marrow and apheresis) to support oncology patients.
• Perform specialised blood component processing services unique to NZBS.
• Contribute to the management of the national tissue bank, overseeing bone, skin and heart valve processing, storage and issuing.
• Work in a highly specialised area that may involve surgical retrieval of tissues from deceased donors for transplantation.
• Be prepared to transition into a state-of-the-art GMP environment as NZBS grows, including involvement in the new facility with cleanrooms and cryostorage.

Base salary : $71,070 – $107,600 depending on skills, experience and registration.

About You

You are a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist recognised by the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and have prior laboratory experience, preferably in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment. You bring a positive, can-do attitude to technically challenging work. You may participate in the team on-call roster as required. Prior experience in stem cell, tissue, aseptic processing in cleanrooms and / or pathology laboratories is valuable.
