About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga :

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Parks Planner to join our Asset Management Group. This Group is responsible looking after a diverse portfolio of work, including river and coastal engineering, flood scheme operations and maintenance of the regional park network, to name a few. As the Regional Parks Planner, you will lead the planning of the Group's current and future portfolio for the Open Spaces function. This will include setting the strategic direction for Open Spaces in accordance with Council Policy, relevant legislative frameworks and the needs of our community.

You will be someone who consistently produces high-quality work while also enjoying being an active member of a multidisciplinary team. The role holder will be responsible for managing several projects at any given time, ensuring that ecological, biodiversity, cultural and recreational values have been effectively considered when planning work to be undertaken by the team. To achieve all of this you will need to be organised, logical and confident in your approach to workflow planning. Success in the role will result in positive future outcomes for the regions’ open spaces and wider community which you can take great pride in being a part of.

Ideally you will also have :

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Parks Planning, Landscape Architecture or other education relevant to this role.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role and / or relevant industry
  • Awareness of relevant legislation including the Resource Management Act, Biosecurity Act, Reserves Act, Local Government Act, Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, Public Works Act
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both on a one-to-one basis and with groups, including fellow professionals and members of the public
  • Valid driver's licence

What we offer | Nga huanga mōu :

The salary range for this role is $87,480 to $97,200 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
