Environmental Advisor - Otaki / Levin

About The Project

The Otaki to north of Levin (O2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience and efficiency, as well as increasing transport choices for the area's growing population.

The O2NL project is led in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaupoko Tribal Authority, local hapu of Ngati Raukawa ki te Tonga and council partner Horowhenua District Council.

This transformative project is being delivered using a two-alliance approach, with each alliance delivering a section of the road and associated works.

Together alliance partners are working to create a positive legacy for the region, led by our project principles to tread lightly with the whenua and create an enduring legacy.

About The Role

We now have an opportunity for an Environmental Advisor to join McConnell Dowell (MCD) from January

• , supporting our Alliance high-performing team, championing the environmental performance and regulatory requirements for the Alliance.

The ideal candidate will be based in Wellington or Palmerston North and would be willing to travel or relocate to Otaki, Levin or nearby areas.

Some Of The Key Tasks For This Role Include

Ensure environmental works are carried out in accordance with the alliance standards.

Promote environmentally safe working practices and culture.

Coordinate accident / incident investigations and produce environmental bulletins and alerts.

Report environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders when required.

Attend and present environmental content at daily pre-start and weekly toolbox meetings, as required.

Monitoring of environmental effects and the effectiveness of controls.

About You

Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related discipline.

2 years + experience in the environmental field.

Operational experience in the application of environmental principles in the construction industry (preferred).

Thorough working knowledge of environmental legislation and / or associated regulations.

Demonstrated practical understanding of resource consents and consent compliance processes.
