Director, Financial Planning & Analysis - Finance

About the Role
The Director is responsible for managing the annual budget process, which includes the development of budget communications and the provision of key financial inputs that inform strategic planning and budgeting decisions. This also encompasses overseeing internal forecasting of Health New Zealand's financial performance, integrating current performance trends to provide a comprehensive view of the organisation's financial performance.
In this capacity, the Director plays a pivotal role by contributing to the financial aspects of Health New Zealand plans, including the New Zealand Health Plan and the Statement of Performance Expectations, while supporting function-specific planning activities and maintaining alignment with budgets and project plans. This includes undertaking extensive scenario planning and deep dive analyses that drive performance improvements within Health New Zealand.
About the Service
The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a newly created national function to support organisational decision-making and prudent stewardship of financial resources by providing transparent, data-informed analysis of financial and non-financial drivers of performance. This team will deliver a forward-looking approach to planning, budgeting, reporting and forecasting, that is centred on enabling an integrated performance story for Health NZ, working collaboratively across the organisation at all levels.
About you
You bring over 15 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a strong focus on financial reporting and compliance, complemented by more than five years in a senior leadership role. You are recognised for your effective leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills, which enable you to navigate complex financial landscapes and convey intricate information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
With exceptional analytical skills and strong financial acumen, you have a proven ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights. Your expertise allows you to foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders while driving informed decision-making that supports organisational goals.
You also hold professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant status or equivalent membership of a recognised accounting association.
