    ABB has been part of the New Zealand industrial and technology landscape for 90 years, supplying products and services to much of NZ’s electrical and heavy industry sectors. A major part of the NZ operation, ABB’s medium voltage switchgear design and production facility has been based in Henderson, Auckland, since 1995. The switchgear products are commonplace on streets across NZ as well as in Australia and other international markets.

    About the Quality Manager role :

    With the incumbent moving on after a long tenure with the business, ABB are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Manager to join their team and help them establish and maintain a culture of quality within their organization. Reporting to the GM Distribution Solutions, this is a critical leadership role supporting the production facility and ongoing customer service for all aspects of quality and compliance.

    The position forms part of the site leadership team but will also require you to be proactive and interactive with the factory floor, building solid and trusting relationships and to then help instil a high level of support and guidance to continue to improve quality practices on site. You’ll also manage one direct report.

    About you :

    To be a strong candidate for this vacancy, you will ideally have some level of mechanical or electrical background in either an industrial / operational or component assembly business. You’ll have knowledge and experience in quality assurance functions and principles, including managing audits, maintaining ISO standards, and proactively managing issues in production and / or customer complaint resolution. You will be engaging, able to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively written and spoken methods.

    Ideally you will have the following :

    • Tertiary or trade qualified in a mechanical or electrical discipline
    • Proven leadership – direct and through positive influence
    • 5+ years quality assurance experience – QMS, ISO maintenance, Audits etc.
    • Experience in manufacturing / assembly processes
    • A drive for continuous improvement
    • Highly interactive and influential communicator
