OverviewAuckland Council's Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) team invites applications for a Senior Advisor - Emergency Relief to join the Business and Welfare (emergency relief) and Recovery function in a brand-new role.
This role focuses on developing tools, plans, processes and systems to coordinate emergency relief across Tamaki Makaurau, in collaboration with the Head of Business and Welfare.ResponsibilitiesOversee emergency relief training and coordination.Co-design and facilitate the development and delivery of welfare training programmes to build capability of staff and volunteers in Civil Defence Centres.Create and maintain SOPs for welfare (emergency relief) sub-functions.Participate in CDEM exercises to test and enhance emergency relief processes.Support continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned from responses.Collaborate with key stakeholders, community groups and partners to develop and monitor relevant plans and emergency relief arrangements.Oversee and enable the coordination and delivery of needs assessment during a response.Qualifications and ExperienceExperience in the emergency management and welfare coordination space.Experience in similar roles within large, complex, and potentially political organisations.Proven experience in emergency welfare planning and delivery.Strong understanding of Civil Defence and Emergency Management frameworks.Ability to design and implement training programmes, including delivery and facilitation.Experience developing operational procedures and SOPs.Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-agency collaboration.Desired and Additional InformationWe encourage you to apply even if you have some but not all the listed requirements.Auckland Council is the largest local government council across Oceania, serving over 1.7 million people and contributing to making Tamaki Makaurau a world-class city.BenefitsWe offer a range of employee benefits and support flexible working options where possible.
