- NPHS Te Waipounamu team is seeking a passionate and skilled
- Health Promotion Advisor
- to join our Community and Whanau Wellbeing team in the Southern district based in our Queenstown office in a fixed term role covering parental leave.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformational change in our health system, guided by the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) vision and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.As a Health Promotion Advisor, you will lead and support initiatives that enhance community health and wellbeing, such as Healthy Active Learning, working with schools and key partners.Your mahi will include :
Working collaboratively with community partners to design and deliver health promotion initiatives informed by evaluationEnsure health promotion work is evidence-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with whanau and community wellbeing outcomesAdvocating for Maori health equity and supporting Maori-led and Pacific-led responsesInfluencing policy and creating supportive environments for wellbeingApplying systems thinking and innovation to improve outcomesAbout the Team / Service / LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.This role is based within the Community and Whanau Wellbeing team which aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of the whole community through creating supportive environments to make healthy choices more available to whanau.
You'll be dedicated to seeing communities thrive and will partner with them to deliver initiatives that realise Pae Ora.
About youYou are a motivated team member who is skilled at connecting and working with community partners such as schools, NGOs, Sports Trust and councils.You can work in an evidence-based way, integrating health promotion frameworks, health data and community insights to inform priorities and programme development.
You have excellent relationship management and influencing skills.With a focus on achieving equity, you will work closely with community partners in Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago to support the implementation of health promotion strategies, particularly Healthy Active Learning by working with schools and partners such as Sport Otago.
