To support our business expanding, we are now seeking an experienced in-house Urban Planner with substantial expertise in large-scale master planning projects (20 km2 or above), particularly those related to Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and tourism-oriented community planning.

Hours per week : Minimum of 30 to a maximum of 40 hours per week, five days from Monday to Friday, between 8 : 30 am to 5 : 30 pm.

Working more than 40 hours may be required with additional hourly payment, but overtime will be no more than 8 hours per week.

Hourly rate : $35 to $38

Key Responsibilities :

Collect and analyse economic, cultural, environmental, and social data affecting land use and urban development.

Collaborate with councils, local communities, designers, surveyors, engineers, and other consultants.

Write and review Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE) reports from related consultants.

Stay informed about updates and amendments to district and regional planning rules.

Lead projects from feasibility studies and master planning through to developed design, ensuring alignment with site context and client needs.

Prepare and modify urban and review architectural designs, including 3D models, plans, and visual presentations, using professional design software.

Incorporate feedback from director, clients, and consultants into design revisions.

Attend project and client meetings, providing regular progress updates to supervisors and directors.

Maintain professional communication with clients to identify and meet project and design objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

A relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification and a minimum of two years' experience in urban planning or urban design.

Preferred experience with large-scale master planning or regional development projects, ideally including Transit-Oriented Development or cultural-tourism projects.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, AI-assisted tools, and ArchiCAD; familiar with Twinmotion for rendering and visualisation.

Strong understanding of New Zealand planning regulations and resource consent processes.

Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced design environment.
