Stock Manager

Overview

Working with the Owner / manager on our family run property, we require someone with 3-5 years of Sheep and Beef farming experience with a focus on grass management to help on our intensive breeding and finishing property.

This is a role with lots of variation; we run Breeding Ewes / Cows, Bull beef and Dairy grazing which is integrated from the family owned dairy business.

Approximately 70% of your time would be stock focused and 30% general work including fencing, water, tractor work and general maintenance.

Position Details

We winter approximately 5000 stock units in a 70 : 30 split of Cattle and Sheep on 390ha varying from steep hill to flats.

Weekend work is required during busy periods and winter break feeding (1-2 hours / day).

This is a full time fixed term position for 1 year (Nov 25–Nov 26), with potential for a permanent position after.

Location and Accommodation

We are located 10 minutes east of Hawera and have a warm 2.5 bedroom house available with the job.

Honest and reliable

Strong grass management skills

Strong animal health knowledge

A problem solver

3-4 well controlled working dogs

Can work confidently sole charge carrying out all tasks

Experience in Breeding and finishing systems

Intensive farming experience (break feeding, crop)

Knowledge of water systems

Competent operating tractors and ATVs on hill country

Be physically fit

Have a current NZ work visa

Remuneration and Application

Remuneration will be based on skills and experience.
