An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Infant, Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service (ICAFS) in the Hutt Valley. We are looking for enthusiastic registered Mental Health Professionals ( Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse ) with experience working in child and adolescent mental health to join our service. The position available is within the Tautāwhi team.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

ICAFS provides assessment and interventions for 0-18 year olds with moderate to severe mental health needs and their whanau. The service utilises the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) model of treatment and consists of two energetic multidisciplinary teams, Tautāwhi and Kaiārahi. At ICAFS we provide a range of individual, whanau and group based treatment, including full Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Family Therapy.

Tautāwhi is the ‘front door team’ for ICAFS, providing choice appointment initial assessments, brief interventions, consult liaison to the inpatient wards at Hutt Hospital and support at crisis assessments undertaken by the Crisis Resolution Service. Tautāwhi also provides longer term assessment and treatment. Kaiārahi is the ‘partnership’ team for ICAFS, providing the majority of longer term treatment and extended assessment following initial assessment. There is much opportunity for co-working across the teams as part of specialised therapies and group treatments provided at the service.

We are seeking a Registered mental health professional who can bring a variety of skills and expertise including :

  • assessment and treatment of infants, children, young people and their families
  • risk assessment and management
  • multi-disciplinary team working
  • community liaison
  • discipline specific skills

Skills and Experience

  • This role is open to an Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse
  • who has skills and expertise in working with adolescents and their families, bi-cultural and multi-cultural work practices, multi-disciplinary team working, and community liaison.
  • The ideal applicant will have experience in the child and adolescent mental health sector and a proven ability of working with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • You will hold a relevant qualification and be registered with the relevant professional registration body, and have an up-to-date annual practicing certificate.
