, the Department of Internal Affairs will become the sole regulator for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML / CFT).It's an exciting time to join us and make a real impact.
As Principal Advisor, you'll lead the development of multiple Sector Risk Assessments – a cornerstone of our risk-based approach.
These assessments identify where the greatest risks lie across regulated sectors, shaping how we target our efforts and disrupt criminal networks.
Your work will directly strengthen New Zealand's resilience against organised crime.
What you'll do
Lead the design and delivery of multiple sector risk assessments that are robust, evidence-based, and practical.Analyse multiple sources of data and information and apply robust risk methodology to identify vulnerabilities and emerging threats.Engage widely with stakeholders – from industry bodies to government agencies – and communicate insights clearly.Manage multiple assessments in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and timeliness.What you'll bring
Proven experience leading complex risk assessments.Strong background in AML / CFT, financial crime prevention / detection, or financial intelligence.Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across public and private sectors.Advanced analytical and critical thinking capability.Clear, influential communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and deliver quality results within deadlinesRelevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.Why join us?
