Join DHL Global Forwarding as Head of Oceanfreight – New Zealand

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Oceanfreight to lead our ocean freight operations and drive strategic initiatives to enhance our service offerings.

This role requires a deep understanding of the ocean freight market, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering excellence in logistics.

Location : Auckland, New Zealand

Reporting Lines : Directly report : Managing Director, New Zealand & Fiji; Dotted line report : Function Head - Oceanfreight

What do we expect from you as part of the forwarding leading company?

Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize ocean freight operations and enhance customer satisfaction.

Oversee the management of ocean freight contracts, pricing strategies, and service levels.

Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ocean freight services with other logistics solutions.

Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to ocean freight.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, carriers, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and skills required :

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Demonstrated and relevant experience and advanced understanding of freight forwarding, warehousing, and consolidation.

Preferred : minimum of 8 years of experience in ocean freight management, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.

In-depth knowledge of ocean freight operations, regulations, and market dynamics.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.

Language skills : Fluent in English.
