About the role
We're looking for an experienced and motivated Wastewater Treatment Technician to join our Three Waters team.
As a Wastewater Treatment Technician, your primary responsibility is to operate and maintain PNCC's wastewater treatment systems in compliance with consent requirements, safety standards, and operational efficiency targets.
You'll work across the treatment plant, outstations, oxidation ponds, and pump stations, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the network.
This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Once fully trained you will participate in the on-call duty roster, including after-hours call outs, and some weekend work on your rostered week.
Your focus in this role will include :
Operating and maintaining plant equipment, systems, and instrumentation across the treatment network.
Monitoring plant performance and identifying opportunities for optimisation.
Completing routine maintenance and ensuring equipment is safe and fit for purpose.
Managing chemical dosing and monitoring stock levels.
Carrying out and recording laboratory tests in line with the monitoring programme.
Ensuring compliance with resource consents and health and safety legislation.
About you
You'll be a skilled technician with a sound understanding of wastewater treatment processes and the drive to maintain operational excellence.
You'll also be ready to take initiative, work independently when needed, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
What you'll bring :
A National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Level 4) – essential.
A National Diploma in Wastewater Treatment (Level 5) and / or a trade qualification – desirable.
At least 2 years of experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities.
A current NZ driver's licence (full or restricted).
Strong communication and time management skills.
Good computer literacy – especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
A mature, adaptable, and safety-focused approach to your work.
