This entry-level role is a fantastic development pathway for someone currently working in finance or aspiring to become an accountant.As a shared resource across the Finance team, the Finance Assistant will gain exposure to a wide range of core finance functions, including : Transactional financeBusiness partneringThis role is designed to provide foundational experience in a collaborative and supportive environment, offering a unique chance to build practical skills while contributing to meaningful work.
It's ideal for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and take the first step toward a rewarding career in accounting and finance.Provide day-to-day support across core finance functions including financial accounting and reporting, rates processing, transactional finance such as accounts receivable and payable, and business partnering activities.Assist with reconciliations, data entry, reporting, and other administrative tasks.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team.Engage in learning and development opportunities to build capability and prepare for future growth.Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance (or working towards one) preferred.Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.Good communication and organisational skills.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Taranaki is a region like no other, offering a perfect balance of career opportunities and lifestyle.
