About the Role
The Communications and Marketing Advisor will encourage eligible people to take part in bowel screening, using several approaches. These will include leading the development and delivery of targeted campaigns, using culturally relevant materials. The communications and marketing advisor will also provide administrative support for the National Bowel Screening Programme.
The role is focused on improving equitable participation for Māori and Pacific peoples within the eligible population in Northland, working collaboratively with regional and national partners. By driving health‑specific marketing, communications, and engagement strategies, the Advisor will play a key role in increasing participation and reducing inequities in bowel screening.
The Bowel Screening Team in Te Tai Tokerau is a small but passionate group of dedicated professionals committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our Northland communities. Working collaboratively across the region, the team provides bowel screening services to people throughout Te Tai Tokerau, ensuring equitable access and high‑quality care.
Strongly connected both regionally and nationally to the National Bowel Screening Programme, the team contributes to a coordinated, consistent approach to early detection and prevention of bowel cancer. With a shared focus on community engagement, education, and support, the Te Tai Tokerau Bowel Screening Team plays a vital role in helping whānau across Northland live longer, healthier lives.

About you
As a Communications and Marketing Adviser, you will have an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and develop relevant networks.
Whilst not essential, candidates that have previous experience in the health sector and / or a post graduate qualification or equivalent in communications, public relations, health promotion or related discipline are desired.
