Process payroll accurately and on time, including data entry for new employees, salaries, benefits, and time records.Maintain and improve payroll and HRIS systems and procedures.Provide payroll system support, advice, and services to staff and managers.Prepare and file employment-related returns (PAYE, Kiwisaver, ACC).Respond to and resolve payroll / HRIS inquiries, escalating complex issues as needed.Assist with reporting for employment relations, audits, and strategic needs.Ensure compliance with legislation (Employment Relations Act, Holidays Act, IRD requirements).Participate in team activities, provide leave cover, and maintain desk files.Uphold Southern DHB values and health & safety standards.Key Relationships
Internal : Southern DHB staff, managers, HR, IT, finance teams.External : Government departments, ACC, banks, other DHBs.Essential Skills & Qualifications
Minimum NCEA Level 2.At least 2 years clerical / administration experience.Strong knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS.Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).Understanding of relevant legislation and ability to interpret contractual clauses.High standard of interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills.Provide day-to-day administration, maintenance, reporting, and operations of the Payroll and HRIS systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and related activities. Deliver efficient administrative support that adapts to the changing needs of the organisation.
