At Environment Southland, we work alongside our community to manage Southland's land, water, air, and coast, from Stewart Island to Fiordland.

After a recent organisational redesign, we're investing in specialist roles that will help us respond to the unique challenges of our region.

We're now looking for an experienced Environmental Scientist - Land to join our high-performing Science Investigations and Operations Team.About the role : The Environmental Scientist Land contributes to the overall performance of the Science Investigations and Operations Team by providing research, analysis and reporting in the field of soil and land science.This role focuses on : Providing advice and expertise in soil and land science relevant to the needs of CouncilDeveloping, implementing and managing soil and land science monitoring programmes and investigationsParticipating in the development and implementation of soil and land science management strategies and programmes aligned with meeting organisational outcomesSupport assessment and management of Selected Land Use Sites (SLUS) and Hazardous Activities and Industrial List (HAIL) sites.What you'll bring : 3+ years' experience in soil, land science or environmental investigationSound understanding of NZ environmental legislation, standards, and reportingStrong data interpretation, research, and technical reporting skillsWe have a lifestyle that is second to none, with easy access to beaches, rivers, lakes, ski fields, national parks and first-class sports facilities.
