Overview
We are seeking an engaging, innovative teacher with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in mainstream and specialist schools.
This is a permanent, 0.8 FTE role.
Responsibilities
Work closely with DHH students, families, whanau, and school staff across mainstream and specialist schools.
Provide individualized support and lesson adaptation to improve student participation and success in education and life outcomes.
Maintain accurate records, including caseload information, assessment data, and liaison notes.
Collaborate with curriculum teams to implement best practice strategies for Deaf students.
Qualifications
Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children or mainstream children.
Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or experience as a NZ registered teacher.
Existing or willingness to develop proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening & spoken language practices for DHH learners.
Recent practical experience working with the early levels of the New Zealand Curriculum.
Current, clean driver's licence; use of own car with mileage reimbursement.
