About the RoleDo
you have an affinity with the elderly and a basic understanding of Mental
Health and enjoy working in a health care setting?
You will be working across AM, PM & night
shifts rostered Monday to SundayIf
you are familiar with delivering personal care to the elderly and mental health
consumers with co-existing physical disabilities and have knowledge of
different cultural requirements and sensitivities in a mental health inpatient
setting, we would like to hear from you.The
Older Persons Mental Health Admission Unit at Alexandra Hospital promotes
psychiatric care and assessment for the older members of our community based in
Richmond.We practice in a collaborative patient partnership
model of care to achieve best outcomes for our patients / families and whanau.
As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our
dedicated nursing environment with full support.
Your role is to work within
the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches
and other tasks as directed.
About YouWe are looking
for an individual with a mature outlook and proven ability to communicate in a clear, considerate manner with
genuine compassion.
You will also have the ability to
work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability,
and use appropriate initiative.
Experience
within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training
will be provided.

QualificationsEssentialYear 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to
be commenced once orientations have been attended.
A NZQA Certificate in Support of the Older
Person or NZQA Certificate in Mental Health Support Work or is working towards
either qualification would be desirable.
