Legal Counsel (Part Time)

Overview

An exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Legal Counsel to join a respected New Zealand business in Auckland, supporting the Head of Legal. This role is suited to someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, values flexibility, and aims to impact business operations by building and scaling the legal function with efficient processes, proactive risk management, and timely, commercially sound advice.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust legal processes, workflows, and templates to streamline operations and ensure consistency across all business units.
• Develop and maintain an effective legal matter management system that supports knowledge sharing through contract repositories, FAQs, and playbooks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts while supporting contract lifecycle management and approvals for diverse business needs.
• Provide timely legal advice on consumer law matters including CGA, FTA, privacy issues, advertising regulations, and compliance requirements relevant to New Zealand legislation.
• Identify potential legal risks within business initiatives or ongoing operations and proactively develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
• Assist in developing, updating, and communicating internal policies while supporting governance initiatives such as board reporting and director training.
