Overview
As a Compliance Technician you will be visiting customer sites, for the compliance of fire protection systems such as fire alarms, sprinkler systems and handheld fire equipment and surveying fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and passive systems. Your role is to test life safety systems in line with NZ Standards and the Building Act to ensure the equipment works in accordance with the NZ standard.
This role is for an experienced Tester who is very familiar with the NZ Standards and Building Act.
The role is full time and permanent - 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Fire & Building Compliance in NZ.
- Be legally able to work in New Zealand
- Working knowledge of NZ Standards and Building Act.
- NZQA New Zealand Certificate in Fire Protection Systems Technology (Testing) Level 3 or similar (or the ability to obtain one)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate efficiency through prior time and route planning
- Have the ability to prepare written reports with clear well detailed information
- Good physical fitness and able to walk, climb ladders, and use a mobile device to record test results
- A clean, full NZ driver licence and the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
- Clear criminal history record
Responsibilities
We are looking to employ a Fire Alarm Tester to carry out Fire Alarm Inspections, servicing and repairs. This position will be based in New Plymouth, but you will be working at various sites around the greater Taranaki region. This is ongoing, full-time (guaranteed 40 hours a week), permanent employment. You may be required to be on call from time to time to meet our operational needs.Inspection and testing, maintenance of fire alarms in commercial and Industrial buildings.Testing, fault finding, repair and adjustments of alarms and alarm systemsPerform inspections and testing of fire alarms and completing compliance requirements.Responding to emergency calls.Carrying out detailed surveys on existing fire alarm systems as required for NZ Fire Safety Standards.Carry out other fire protection works as directed by Management and SupervisorsAttended off job trainingKeep a record of daily work activitiesProviding supervision and training when working with anAbide by Health and Safety rules and regulationsWhilst you will have the ability to work independently, we offer the support of a great team with the opportunity to build your skills and experience.
