The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate  Electrical Tutor  to deliver our newly confirmed Level 3 Pre-Trade Course in Hamilton. This full-time role will be instrumental in supporting student learning and achievement, helping students build a strong foundation for their careers in the electrical industry.

Your Key Responsibilities

Course Delivery, Assessment, and Development :

  • Deliver and assess approved courses, structured in both block and day release formats.
  • Use recommended course materials and prepare the training centre for effective learning.
  • Mark student work promptly, supporting their progress and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide backup for night classes and other courses as needed.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of teaching resources.

Student Support :

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to students.
  • Monitor student achievements and keep Learning Support Managers, Learning Managers, and Apprentice Mentors informed.
  • Training Centre Maintenance :

  • Assist the Learning Manager in maintaining training centre facilities and resources.
  • Coordinate with the Learning Manager for any immediate needs (resources, tools, etc.).
  • Support workshop maintenance as required.
  • Health & Safety :

  • Actively promote health, safety, and wellbeing practices.
  • Adhere to Skills Health & Safety policies and legislative requirements.
  • Take responsibility for personal and collective safety.
  • Report all incidents and potential hazards promptly.
  • Desired Skills and Experience

    Qualifications and skills

  • NZ Electrical Registration (Full Practising License, Inspectors Licence, or Electrical Engineering Degree or similar) – required.
  • Extensive practical experience in the electrical industry.
  • Experience in adult tertiary teaching or training is a plus (training support provided).
  • Solid understanding of learning theories, student engagement, and curriculum planning.
  • Experience in people management or supervisory roles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft systems (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
