We are seeking a Junior Web Developer to join our company, which imports bakery equipment for commercial clients.
This permanent, full-time role guarantees 30 hours per week.
The developer will help design, develop, and maintain our website and e-commerce platform for commercial and individual customers.
Candidates should understand e-commerce and basic import / export processes, including customs and logistics.About Us
We are a New Zealand-based company specialising in the import and distribution of high-quality bakery equipment from China.
Our primary clients are commercial businesses, including bakeries, cafes, and restaurants across New Zealand.
We operate local warehousing and logistics services to ensure efficient storage and timely delivery to our clients.
We are now expanding into online retail and e-commerce, developing a platform that will directly support both commercial and individual / home customers.
Key Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
Assist in developing and maintaining the company's e-commerce website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or CMS platforms.
Implement online ordering and secure payment systems.
Integrate customs / export-import functionality into the e-commerce platform so that orders can automatically generate export documents (China) and import documentation (New Zealand) for bakery equipment shipments.
Regularly update product catalogue, pricing, inventory, and logistics information to ensure accuracy.
Optimise website functionality and user experience based on customer feedback and usage data.
Troubleshoot technical issues under supervision.
Collaborate with the operations team to ensure that website workflows are aligned with international trade procedures, warehousing, and logistics.
Minimum Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Prior work experience in international trade / import-export operations.
Experience (or verifiable project work, e.g. graduation project) in website or e-commerce design.
Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or CMS platforms.
Understanding of e-commerce workflows, online transactions, and digital supply chain systems.
As some product specifications, supplier documents, and customs information are provided in Chinese, the ability to read and accurately process Chinese text for website integration will be considered an advantage.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Note : This is a Junior-level position.
Candidates are not expected to have extensive IT industry experience; however, they must bring prior international trade experience and show evidence of website / e-commerce design skills, either from previous work or project-based learning.
Salary & Conditions
Guaranteed salary : NZD 35–38 per hour, in line with market rates.
Permanent, full-time role with 30 guaranteed hours per week.
Standard business hours : Monday to Friday, no regular weekend or shift work.

Based at the company office / warehouse in Christchurch.
