About the Role – Kōrero mō te Tūranga
The Systems Audit Team is responsible for auditing New Zealand's food control system to ensure that the system is robust and operating effectively. The work helps to continuously improve our systems and to give New Zealand Food Safety, MPI and overseas competent authorities ongoing confidence. It also supports the issuance of official assurances and attestations for market access, underpinning New Zealand's $50 billion of food and primary industries export trade. As a Specialist Systems Auditor you will work on diverse and challenging audits, individually and with a team for larger audits, travelling across the country and providing technical expertise to domestic and international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
About You – Mōu
Our ideal candidate has impeccable integrity, an excellent communicator, significant auditing or verification experience and an in‑depth understanding of a sector's requirements. You must be confident representing MPI and New Zealand with overseas auditors and relate to domestic operators and stakeholders.
You must hold a current and full New Zealand driver licence (not temporary, learner or provisional) or an equivalent full foreign licence with any required endorsements.

About the Team – Mō tō mātou Rōpū
The Systems Audit team is critical to MPI’s work in New Zealand and its global standing. Systems Auditors are recognised experts and trusted advisers at MPI, industry and agencies. The team operates a Quality Management System and is working on health and safety systems. The geographically distributed team meets online and in person, fostering a supportive, collaborative culture.
