The Role

Based at our Christchurch site, you will maintain a large ammonia refrigeration plant and ensure operations align with Wattie's Food Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Ethical policies, programs, and goals.

Your Responsibilities

Ensure engine room refrigeration operates efficiently

Perform maintenance safely and promptly

Supervise staff and contractors in the ammonia plant room as needed

Safely evacuate plant / pipe work for maintenance

Assist electrical staff and be on call 24 / 7 when required

Conduct weekly safety alarm testing

Maintain SOPs & TRAs for training purposes

Check and top up compressor oil levels

Support shift fitters with setup and operation

Perform daily defrosting to maintain temperature standards

Assist Production and Engineering teams as needed

Complete any other tasks as required

Your Skills

Completed an apprenticeship in industrial refrigeration (Ammonia)

Refrigeration - Enchem (Level 4) qualification

Understanding of factory operations and plant layout

Knowledge of H&S practices, including being a H&S rep for Engineering

Practical mechanical skills, including reading drawings

Experience operating heavy machinery
