About The Position
Are you a geothermal modelling expert who wants to work at the interface of cutting-edge research and industry consultancy, advancing geothermal science while delivering solutions for real-world projects?
We're looking for a skilled geothermal reservoir modeller who can work independently, lead modelling efforts, and proactively drive research and commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of geothermal reservoir and wellbore models in complex geological settings, including high temperature systems.
Advance novel modelling methodologies.
Identify and pursue new research and commercial opportunities.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support and contribute to geothermal resource assessments, field development, and optimisation strategies.
About You
You are a technically strong, self-motivated modeller with :
Extensive experience in modelling heat and mass transport, especially applied to geothermal reservoirs.
Experience in geothermal wellbore modelling, reactive transport modelling, geomechanical simulations, or AI applications.
A solid foundation in applied mathematics and numerical methods.
Strong coding skills with the ability to develop your own customised modelling tools.
A track record of successful proposal development.
A strong publication history and experience in a consulting or applied research environment.
Experience working directly with clients to deliver effective solutions tailored to their needs and requirements.
A PhD in applied mathematics, geophysics, physics, engineering, or a related field.
More than 5 years professional experience in the geothermal or related sectors.

A permanent, full time (38 hours per week) role based in our GNS Business Unit, at either our campus in Avalon, Lower Hutt or Wairakei, Taupo.
The salary range for this position is between $124,511 to $162,350 or more, depending on the successful candidate's experience.
