Job descriptionWork sole charge on rostered days, taking full responsibility for daily shop operations. Receive, sort, price, and merchandise donated goods in line with SPCA guidelines. Ensure the shop is clean, welcoming, and well-stocked throughout the day. Serve customers with warmth and professionalism, promoting positive donor and shopper experiences. Accurately process sales and cash handling, including end-of-day reconciliation. Provide cover and basic team supervision in the manager’s absence. Help support and guide volunteers in their roles. Ensure health & safety and SPCA procedures are followed. Retail or customer service experience (charity retail a bonus). Confident working sole charge and making operational decisions when required. Able to work flexibly across the shop floor, till, and sorting area. Confident communicator who enjoys helping others. Reliable, organised, and proactive with good attention to detail. Comfortable working in a team and independently. Physically fit and able to lift / move stock as required. Enjoy a paid day off for your Birthday, it’s our way of celebrating you! With over 90 Op Shops across New Zealand, we give second-hand goods a new life and every purchase helps rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.
Our Palmerston North Op Shop has a new manager and we are seeking a new retail assistant to join them on the exciting growth journey they have started. With a team of dedicated and experienced volunteers, and some new faces, this shop aims to deliver great products and service 7 days a week. We have an exciting opportunity at our Palmerston North SPCA Op Shop for a :
- Op Shop Assistant
- Permanent Part Time
- Sunday and Monday 8.45am – 5.15pm
