Senior Devops Platform Engineer

Overview

Location : Auckland.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior DevOps Platform Engineer within our Platform Services team at Mott MacDonald.

The home office location is Auckland.

We help our business to deliver software safely and efficiently by developing an Internal Development Platform.

This enables domain experts to translate their expertise into digital assets while lowering barriers to entry.

We combine over 120 years of engineering legacy with cutting-edge technology to connect innovation to outcomes across planning, delivery, and operation of client assets.

Role purpose

You will join the Mott MacDonald Platform Services team.

This is an innovative and dynamic team responsible for developing and maintaining an exciting product range to expand our existing offering.

Responsibilities

Take technical ownership of the solution, working closely with the Product Manager to define and deliver the right outcomes.

Lead the sprint team, guiding developers and ensuring delivery of high-quality solutions.

Provide technical project leadership, including solution architecture, technical planning, and coordination across workstreams.

Collaborate across global teams, navigating time zones and cultural differences effectively.

Be a self-starter, able to work independently and take initiative.

Be a team player, fostering collaboration and mentoring others.

Candidate specification

Our ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science and / or an equivalent qualification in software engineering and related experience in a similar role.

Prior work experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related fields is beneficial.

PostgreSQL administration, optimization, replication

Python for automation and tooling

Bash scripting and Linux administration

API design principles and RESTful architectures
