Mō te tūnga | About the role
Waikato operates 5 Family Homes where are cared for by 2 Family Home Caregivers. When caregivers have breaks of about 2 to 15 days, Family Home Relievers continue to provide routine care and maintain a safe, caring, responsible, and supportive family environment 24 / 7. Our Family Homes are smoke-free homes, which is important to consider when applying.
The role of a family home reliever includes cooking, shopping, recreation activities, helping with homework, and supervision. Upon starting your shift, the caregiver will provide a detailed handover, and a designated social worker will liaise with each home, providing regular clinical supervision. Care plans are developed for tamariki, and relievers are expected to ensure activities continue as planned and follow handover instructions.
Ideal candidates are flexible to be available 24 hours a day for a minimum of 4 consecutive days and committed to maintaining a safe, caring, and supportive family environment.
This role can suit someone seeking occasional work or more frequent hours, depending on availability.
