Capability and Performance Manager H&SS – Pacific Health
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across more than 80 locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
This strategic leadership role is dedicated to advancing Pacific workforce development across hospital and specialist services, with a strong focus on equity and culturally safe practices.
Grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pae Ora principles, the position champions a Pacific equity approach to health education and workforce pathways—nationally and regionally.
You'll lead initiatives that align health service needs with Pacific workforce capability, set education targets, and foster strategic partnerships to improve access and coordination for Pacific learners.
Through data-driven performance frameworks and cross sector collaboration, you'll help shape integrated models of care and enable thriving, culturally responsive teams.
About the Team / Service / Location
This role sits within the Pacific Health Directorate within Health NZ.
The team is dedicated to improving health outcomes for Pacific communities through strategic planning, effective funding allocation, and strong partnerships with providers and stakeholders.
As part of this collaborative and impact-driven team, you will contribute to initiatives that support equitable access to healthcare and culturally responsive services.
About You
To thrive in this role, you'll bring a tertiary qualification in clinical or business management—or equivalent leadership experience—alongside a proven track record of driving transformational change in complex environments.
You're a strategic thinker with deep operational insight, a strong equity lens, and the ability to challenge the status quo respectfully to build shared priorities.
With over ten years of post-graduate leadership experience, you communicate with clarity and influence across diverse audiences, including senior leaders and Pacific communities.
Your strengths lie in building high-performing teams, fostering culturally safe partnerships, and delivering measurable impact through robust frameworks, data-driven strategies, and continuous improvement.
