As a Probation Officer, you'll work closely with offenders to make sure they're meeting the conditions of their sentence or order.
You'll assess people and their situations to manage risk, set and maintain boundaries and motivate offenders to make positive changes.
The Probation Officer role is about being a great role model and looking for opportunities to engage with people in a positive way, you have the ability to not only change the lives of whaanau but also influence change through your interactions.
You must work with high integrity and will demonstrate the Departmental and Kaupapa Maori values within your work : Wairua, Whanau, Manaaki, Kaitiaki and Rangatira.
You'll be someone who relates to people from all different backgrounds and cultures - you'll need resilience, common sense and maturity.
You will also have a positive attitude and be motivated to make a difference.

Computer literate and have strong written skills
Full clean New Zealand Driver Licence
Legal right to work in New Zealand without restriction for a minimum of 24 months
Relevant skills and experience working with a diverse group of people

The mid point of the salary range is $67,648 and the full range (85%-120%) is $64,359 - $81,909.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
