Job description

Join Te Whatu Ora at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred health system. This is mahi that will improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Our Strategy & Investment team plays a vital role in shaping our Te Whatu Ora strategies for Data and Digital. We work closely with our partners to create and maintain our strategy and roadmaps, ensuring that our priorities are met, and the vision comes to life.

Our focus is on providing leadership, managing services, and overseeing architecture to align with our strategic goals. Additionally, we're excited to lead Strategic Partnership Management. This involves fostering partnerships with industry providers, managing relationships with national partners like Microsoft, AWS, and Spark, and handling Data and Digital Contract Management alongside Procurement. Our team develops and maintains frameworks, agreements, and roadmaps to keep everything running smoothly.

Mōu | About you

As our Group Manager Strategic Business Partners, you will bring your exceptional leadership, relationship-building, and engagement skills to the forefront. Your knack for fostering strong business and sector relationships will shine as you guide and mentor a talented team. Together, you'll provide essential leadership, advisory, and relationship management expertise, ensuring the successful rollout of data and digital initiatives, business roadmaps, and investment plans that perfectly align with our strategic goals.

Your innovative thinking will play a crucial role in shaping the future. Your insights and guidance will help steer our work programs in a direction that fully supports both the Government's and our Organisation's priorities and objectives. By maintaining strategic relationships with cross-functional data and digital teams, you'll enhance the experience across various business areas. You will spearhead the agreement and implementation of a data and digital roadmap that perfectly aligns with our business area's strategic objectives.

Additionally, you will oversee the performance and effectiveness of the Strategic Business Partner practice. By fostering partnerships across the sector, you'll champion improved care, equity outcomes, and the optimization of value from digital investments. Your expertise will establish an effective and high-performing Business Partner practice, revolutionizing relationships and linkages across the health landscape to bolster service delivery, planning, and overall improvement.

Preference will be given to applications of significantly affected Kaimahi through the change process.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in managing strategic partnerships to enable business transformation in the use of Digital services.
  • Minimum 15 years in strategic consulting, strategy and planning, service delivery management or related senior technology leadership positions with a background in IT management preferably in the health sector.
  • Proven experience successfully leading large diverse teams through change and achieving improved results while navigating a highly nuanced and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage teams in an environment of change, financial prudence, and an increasing level of digital maturity across the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and manage a work programme, prioritise work, manage risk, follow through on tasks to their successful conclusion and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong professional consulting skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership.
  • Proven financial management experience (forecasting, cost control and meeting financial targets across OPEX and Capex budget lines).
  • Proven ability in managing suppliers and vendors through best practice procurement processes and Government contracts.

Ka kawea e koe | You will bring :

  • A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions. This includes an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in this role
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei | Work that suits today's ever-changing world

Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi. In roles that don't require an in-person element, we encourage you to ‘work from where you are.' We want our national teams to be made up of diverse people from across the motu, just like our health system.

Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai |Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining together of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.

At Te Whatu Ora we acknowledge and respect our people's diversity and spiritual needs, ensuring a safe workplace that is a whānau orientated and supportive environment. We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system – Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.

Tō tūranga i roto i Te Whatu Ora | Your place in Te Whatu Ora

When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, that will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa, and future generations. We want to see the real you in your application and welcome the real you on board if you come and work with us. Skills are gained across many areas of our life, not just in formal employment. If you can demonstrate the skills listed in the ad, but the experience was gained through whānau life, community or mahi aroha (volunteering) we encourage you to apply and share your story with us in your cover letter.

We particularly welcome applications from our diverse Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.

Me pēhea te tuku tono | How to apply

To view the position description and / or apply for the role (by submitting your cover letter and CV), please click “APPLY NOW.” For tracking and reporting purposes, all applications must be submitted through our online career portal. If you have any questions about the role, please feel free to contact Jayme at [email protected]

Preference will be given to applications of significantly affected Kaimahi through the change process.
