We’re recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Masterton. This is a critical role in the reactive maintenance team — supporting breakdowns and ensuring machinery stays running in a fast-moving production environment.

About the Role

  • This is a hands-on, roaming fitter position focused on reactive and breakdown maintenance across a complex, high-speed site.
  • You’ll work on a wide range of equipment, including :
  • Gearboxes, conveyors, loaders
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Machinery alignments and rebuilds
  • The environment is fast-paced and physical — ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys variety, and is confident solving problems on the go.

    What’s on offer

  • Overtime paid at 1.5x after 45 hours
  • Additional shift allowance for hours worked after 6pm
  • Flexible shifts : Day shift : approx. 5am – 3pm (or 5am – 5pm) Afternoon shift : 12pm – 12am (4 or 5 days / week)
  • No weekend work unless you want the hours and pay, and no on-call

  • What you’ll bring

  • Trade qualified Mechanical or Fitter
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter / Maintenance Engineer in fast-moving production
  • Strong skills in alignment, tolerance work, diagnostics
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes & other similar plant equipment
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Positive attitude, good communication, and strong work ethic
  • Whether you come from FMCG, sawmilling, or heavy manufacturing — if you know your way around mechanical systems and enjoy the challenge of keeping production on track, we want to hear from you.
