Our Central Sterilising Services Department plays a key role in supporting the smooth running of our 5 operating theatres through excellence in the provision of sterile surgical instruments in a timely and efficient manner.
We are seeking a qualified CSSD Technician to join our busy Sterilisation Department.
The role is 6-12 months fixed-term maternity cover with the potential for ongoing permanent part time or full time employment, subject to future staffing needs.
CSSD technicians inspect, package and sterilise all surgical instruments used in the operating theatre.
As a key link in the surgical process CSSD Technicians adhere strictly to procedures and have a keen eye on detail.
The role includes working in an environment that requires professionalism and a tidy appearance.
Applicants must be physically well as there is some heavy lifting involved and standing for long periods of time.
Day to day responsibilities include :
Pre cleaning and decontamination of instruments
Checking / inspecting surgical instruments for functionality
Assembling surgical sets to surgeon's specifications
Operating sterilising equipment
Logistics handling of loan surgical equipment
Some lifting and manual handling of equipment crates and tool sets
Key skills and experience required :
Certificate in Sterilising Technology Level 3 or 4
Experience in a hospital sterilisation enviroment preferred
Thorough and meticulous work habits
Able to work independently as well as being a team player
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A positive approach to working in a busy team
Able to work under pressure
Tidy appearance
Ability to work flexible hours
