Stuff is on the lookout for a talented Financial Accountant to join our finance team on a fixed-term contract basis.In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting statutory and audit processes.

You'll be hands-on with the general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and will partner with teams across the business to support budgeting and forecasting activities.We're seeking someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, with a sharp eye for detail and a strong sense of professional accountability.

You will bring a solid grounding in financial accounting, ideally with experience in IFRS or NZ GAAP environments, and a proactive approach to system and process improvements.What You'll Be DoingPreparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with absolute accuracy.Managing the general ledger and driving a smooth, timely month-end close.Supporting the development of statutory accounts and liaising with external auditors.Performing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and strengthening internal controls.Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.Identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes and optimise systems.What You'll BringA Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.CA or CPA qualification (or working towards it).Previous experience in financial accounting or audit, ideally within a mid-to-large organisation.Strong knowledge of IFRS / NZ GAAP / AASB standards.Proficiency with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus) and advanced Excel skills.Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to work.At Stuff, we believe in making Aotearoa a better place through great journalism and meaningful connections with our audiences.
