We are seeking an experienced civil construction professional with a passion for the job and a comprehensive knowledge of the field, including drainage, trenching, trench shields, pavement installation (material understanding, levels, and sealing preparation), finishing, earthworks (compaction, weather protection), concrete works, landscaping, and related tasks.The ideal candidate will have a proactive, "can do" attitude, a clear understanding of project requirements, and the ability to lead a site independently as needed.Machine experience should include at least Class 2, preferably Class 4 / 5, with high proficiency in excavators (GPS experience preferred), competence in skid steers, and final trim for pavement prep, along with experience operating rollers, loaders, compactors, and other small machinery.Our company values its key personnel and offers compensation well above market rates for the right candidate.Key responsibilities include : Leading crews and providing clear direction.Performing final trim, detailed excavation, bulk earthworks, and trenching, utilizing Trimble GPS.Working safely around live services, infrastructure, and traffic.Understanding aggregate specifications, moisture levels, and compaction requirements to achieve desired results.Operating all required vehicles and machinery with appropriate licenses (Class 1 & 2, WTR), including excavators, skid steers, rollers, trucks, and light vehicles.Punctuality and readiness to work are essential; the company's reputation depends on reliable attendance.Complying with quality assurance protocols, including documentation and photographic records.Completing daily pre-start checks on all machinery and vehicles.Performing trenching for pipe installation, loading trucks, and working independently on small jobsites, following earthwork best practices.Maintaining and troubleshooting civil equipment such as plate compactors and footwalkers.Using excavator attachments effectively.Working independently when required, supporting team efforts, manual labor, and site maintenance tasks.Ensuring machinery is kept in optimal condition, including cleaning and routine servicing.Efficiently utilizing plant, labor, and materials to meet project goals.Respecting project hierarchy and following supervisor directives.Being adaptable to weather conditions and performing additional tasks as needed, including work on weekends if necessary.About you : Over 5 years of excavator experience in civil construction disciplines such as drainage, roads, and pavements.Willingness to perform various tasks, including manual labor and concreting.Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams.Willing to learn and upskill continually.Ability to plan and allocate resources efficiently.Understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental standards in civil works.Reliable, physically fit, motivated, and able to commute independently.Drug and alcohol-free.Interested candidates can apply online or contact Sam Aitkenhead for further information.
