About theTeam / Service / Location
Theorthopaedic team at Wairau Hospital is part of a broader, regionally integratedorthopaedic service across Te Tauihu (the top of the South Island), workingclosely with our Nelson Hospital colleagues.
At Wairau, our service issupported by a team of orthopaedic surgeons, registrars, house officers,clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, and anaesthetic and theatre teamscommitted to providing high-quality, patient-centred care.
We offer amix of elective and acute surgery, including joint replacement, arthroscopy,trauma management, and general orthopaedics.
Our team fosters a supportive andcollaborative environment, with an emphasis on continuous professionaldevelopment, teaching, and multidisciplinary care.

About the Role
As a keymember of our orthopaedic services, you will provide high-quality,patient-centred care to the Nelson-Marlborough region.
KeyResponsibilities :
Providecomprehensive orthopaedic care, including consultation, diagnosis, andtreatment for trauma and elective cases.
Performsurgical interventions with precision and a commitment to patient safety.
Participatein the on-call roster to manage acute orthopaedic emergencies.
Collaboratewith multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised careplans.
Engage inquality improvement initiatives and contribute to the department's clinicalgovernance.
Provideteaching and mentorship to junior doctors and medical students.
Stay up todate with advancements in orthopaedic care and bring innovative practices tothe department.
About you
The ideal applicant will :
Fellowship of the RoyalAustralian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
Eligible for an AnnualPractising Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery withthe Medical Council of New Zealand.
Proven expertise inboth trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures.
Sub speciality interestin any of the following would be an asset : upper limb arthroplasty,Spine, or Paediatrics.
Exceptionalcommunication and interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships withpatients and colleagues.
Commitment to teamwork,patient-centred care, and continuous professional development.
