Job description

Ash Surgery is looking for abright, friendly, self motivated, responsible and reliable individual to jointhe reception team in this friendly and supportive practice.

We are currently seeking at least one part-time candidate to join our reception team.

There will be opportunity for extra hours, shift swaps personal development and progression within the surgery.

Main duties of the job

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the receptionist.

a. Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

b. Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

c. Signpostpatients to the correct service

d. Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies

e. Photocopydocumentation as required

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the medical administrator may be requested to :

b. Provide support to the clinical team.

c. Scanningof patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patientshealthcare records

d. Completeopening and closing procedures.

e. Asrequired support the prescribing clerk in the management of repeatprescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently

About us

Ash Surgery is a traditional GP Practice, set in the heart of rural East Kent, close to the city of Canterbury.

We are a close-knit team, and we work closely with the clinical team in aid to support them in the daily running of the practice and deliver the very best in patient care.

Job responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the receptionist.

There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels :

a. Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system

b. Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

c. Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

d. Signpostpatients to the correct service

e. Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies

f. Readcode data on EMIS web.

g. Photocopydocumentation as required

h. Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired

i. Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary

j. Directrequests for information

i.e.

SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA formsto the administrative team

k. Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner

l. Carryout system searches as requested

m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

n. Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards

o. Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the medical administrator may be requested to :

Partake in audit as directed by the auditlead

c. Scanningof patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patientshealthcare records

d. Completeopening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota

e. Asrequired support the prescribing clerk in the management of repeatprescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently

f. Orderingand monitoring of stationery supplies

Person Specification

Qualifications

GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths desirable.

Experience

Experience of Primary care not essential as full training will be provided.
