Finance Administrator

Finance Administrator at Ministry of Education New Zealand. This is a 12-month fixed‑term, full‑time position located in Wellington, NZ.

About this role

Responsible for day‑to‑day financial, operational and administrative support within the Capital Investments team. Supports National Programmes Delivery teams, maintaining operational efficiency and enabling the Ministry to deliver property projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Processing orders, invoices, credit notes, journals and project budget allocations.
  • Budget reconciliations and other finance tasks supporting Property Delivery Programmes.
  • Managing a shared mailbox and other associated finance tasks.
  • Coordinating with Finance Manager for National Programmes and Finance Hub team leader.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience processing high volumes of financial transactions in a busy, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring others.
  • Strong analytical skills, including reconciling financial data and identifying discrepancies.
  • Sharp eye for detail, performing control checks and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality work on time.
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues and interest in process improvement.
  • Familiarity with office and financial systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
  • Salary

    Salary range : $60,879 – $72,999 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver.

    Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate group delivers essential Ministry‑wide statutory and corporate functions. The Capital Investments team supports the capital delivery of school property projects, providing financial insights, analysis and advice throughout the project lifecycle.
