Academic Staff Member - Electrical Pre-Trades

We are seeking an experienced individual in the Electrical Trades industry to join our teaching team as an academic staff member in the NZ Certificate in Electrical Pre-trades Level 3 and other electrical programmes. You will be supporting akonga (learners) to gain trade skills at pre-apprenticeship level.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $77,500 and $96,800 dependent on skills and experience.

The Academic Staff Member – Electrical Tutor is based in our Rotokauri Campus, reporting to the Team Manager and will be responsible for :

• Teaching Excellence - using different teaching methods, create engaging lessons, give helpful feedback and help akonga to build their skills and knowledge in the NZ Certificate in Electrical Pre-Trades Level 3. Programme information can be found here.
• Cultural Competence – creating a culturally safe, inclusive learning environments that respect diversity, international akonga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi-based practice
• Professional Currency – maintaining subject matter knowledge and industry connections with the electrical industry to bring real-world learning to the classroom
• Personal Attributes – having strong interpersonal skills, an innovative mindset, problem-solving ability and commitment to reflective practice and Wintec values

To be successful in this role you will have :

• A relevant trade qualification at Level 4 or higher as an Electrician
• Registered electrician with a current practicing licence the NZ Electrical Workers Registration Board
• A minimum of 5 years practical industry experience in the Electrical industry
• A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are supported in their educational journey.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Passion and energy for teaching and training others
• A full class 1 NZ driver's licence
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident or hold a current NZ work permit

Preferred :

• Unit standard
• and the NZ certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Practice (or be willing to complete these courses)
